Boiled or Fried Rice
Ingredients
1 large mug of American long grained rice
I ΒΌ large mug of water
1 tsp salt
Method
1. Add the rice to a pan and wash the rice under cold water to remove the starch then drain
2. Add the water and salt, bring to the boil then stir with a fork
3. Put a lid on the pan and adjust the heat to the lowest setting leave for 12 minutes without removing the lid, then turn off the heat and leave for a further 10 minutes
4. Remove the lid and the rice should have completely absorbed the water
5. Fluff up the rice up with a fork and serve
For fried rice use the same steps as above but when cooked, spread the rice onto a platter and leave to cool, when cooled place in fridge until cold
